On Vlieland you are surrounded by art. In the forest, in the dunes and on the beach. During the day, at night or both. This year, ten selected artists venture into the twilight zone between order and chaos – in the WAN/ORDE.
Because order and chaos constantly surround us. We build systems, laws, and structures to get a grip on life, but just as often they get out of hand. Take, for example, the rapid technological developments and the geopolitical disorder around us.
But disorder can also be a breeding ground for change and innovation. It opens up frameworks and makes rules waver. The ancient Greeks even saw chaos as a primal state: the endless sea of promise from which order could unfold. It is up to artists to shake things up. To discover logic in randomness, or to break through existing structures.
Go on a quest and immerse yourself in the DIS/ORDER of the art program. Let a guide lead you, or choose chaos and create your own path.
All artists in a row:
Lenie van Asten - Touki Delphine - Juul Hondius in collaboration with Montaser Alsabe & Abed Hussein - Jikke Lesterhuis - Ronald van der Meijs - Maksud Ali Mondal - Suat Öğüt - Dani Ploeger - Jeanine Verloop - Christy Westhovens
The art program was made possible with a contribution from the Mondriaan Fund, Creative Industries Fund NL, and De Versterking.
