In Stillness, Fluid - Day & Night

In Stillness, Fluid embraces the paradox of glass: a material that, even in its solid form, retains traces of fluidity. The installation consists of dozens of threads of kiln-cast glass set in motion by a central axis. On the verge of tension and breakage, the threads vibrate, each in its own rhythm, forming a constantly changing field of lines between order and chaos. The installation invites us to contemplate a reality that cannot be captured in fixed categories, but constantly shifts between order, instability, and multiplicity.

About Jeanine Verloop:

Jeanine Verloop (1994,  Korendijk) is a Dutch visual artist who creates multimedia work and kinetic sculptures. With her installations, she invites the audience into alternative realities in which technology does not develop through control and precision, but through vulnerability, glitches, and destruction.

Driven by a fascination with the way technology can shape, expand, and limit our imagination, her work has evolved from her illustration studies (2018) into a broad practice including abstract print devices, media archaeology, scientific glassblowing, destructive machine performances, experimental sound, interactive installations, and experimental film.

By combining glassblowing, mechanical design, sound, and interactive systems, she creates situations where technology is not controlled but follows its own logic of glitching, instability, and decay. In these disrupted and mutable processes, she explores how technological systems can step beyond their functional roles and reveal something of their vulnerability and power of imagination.

This work is shown in collaboration with Schemerlicht Festival (Nijmegen). The art program was created with a contribution from the Mondriaan Fund, Creative Industries Fund NL and De Versterking.
