From coffee grounds to oyster mushroom
At Into The Great Wide Open, a lot of coffee is consumed. But what happens to all that coffee grounds? This year, it gets a second life in the Zwammenbunker on Vlieland. The team from the Vlielander Kaasbunker recently took over the bunker and is growing oyster mushrooms on coffee grounds from the Vlieland hospitality industry. During the festival, they are taking it a step further: all the coffee grounds from Into The Great Wide Open will be collected to grow oyster mushrooms on. This is how waste becomes a raw material once again.
On Saturday morning at 10:30, you can take a look inside both the Zwammenbunker and the Kaasbunker. More information about the tour can be found at the Kaasbar on the festival grounds.
