Verschijn, Verdwijn - Dag
Verschijn, Verdwijn ontstond tijdens de residentie Standplaats Vlieland (2025), waar het ritme van eb en vloed het uitgangspunt werd voor een onderzoek naar tijd, verandering en aanpassing. Op de Wadden herhaalt alles zich voortdurend, maar geen enkel moment is hetzelfde. Het resultaat is een grootschalige, door zon en wind aangedreven analoge animatieprojector die alleen functioneert wanneer de omstandigheden dat toelaten. De omgeving bepaalt het tempo, de zichtbaarheid en het beeld. Zo ontstaat een live film die niet óver de natuur gaat, maar mét de natuur wordt gemaakt. Verschijn, Verdwijn nodigt uit tot vertragen en wachten, en onderzoekt hoe we ons opnieuw kunnen verhouden tot een wereld waarin niet de mens, maar de omgeving het ritme bepaalt.
About Jikke Lestherhuis:
Jikke Lesterhuis is a visual artist and filmmaker. With her background in stop-motion animation, she creates sculptures, installations, and films in which movement, time, and materiality play an important role. She enjoys working by hand and uses diverse materials to build worlds in which small details acquire their own meaning.
In her work, she often explores the relationship between humans and nature. She is fascinated by the ways in which plants, animals, and landscapes adapt to their environment, and wonders why we humans seem to do this less and less. Born from this curiosity are poetic works in which themes such as climate change, consumption, and our place in the world play a role. Her work invites the viewer to slow down, look closely, and contemplate the beauty of what is constantly changing.
