MARO

Continuing to worry even on your sunny holiday is an art for which MARO has the perfect soundtrack

Indeed, a lot has changed. Since her last album, So Much Has Changed, Lisbon-born MARO sings mainly in English for the first time. It probably suits the international audience she has gathered in recent years – through collaborations with Jacob Collier, Odesza, Parcels, and Patrick Watson. But MARO has by no means  forgotten Portugal, and in the warm bath of polished indie-pop that she runs for you, a fado song occasionally glimmers. It lies in the quiet melancholy, which MARO also holds onto when she takes a sun-drenched, danceable path. The door is, now em inglês, open just a bit wider. Cheer up, come wallow along.
