Olive Jones
Lush soul-jazz that's perfect for treading water in
"We’re a very water-based family" Olive Jones said recently in an interview. She swims a lot, is probably what she wants to say by that. But the singer, who grew up on the English Jurassic Coast, also moves in her music like a fish in water. Her seemingly effortless technical versatility is often reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald; her exceptionally warm, soulful sound is that of someone who prefers to see herself as a "jazz singer in a pop world". The fact that Jones earned her stripes as a busker with a fondness for Adele and Amy Winehouse is reflected on stage.
