YOU ARE SOURCE PROJECTION AND REFLECTION
YOU ARE SOURCE PROJECTION AND REFLECTION is about non-linear reading in motion. With this work, Sophia Bulgakova reconfigures physical space, creating an infinite number of possible compositions in which the visitor plays a decisive role. The audience is invited to explore the space individually by immersing themselves in merging and changing word clouds where they can navigate with the help of transparent screens and playfully capture texts.
The text that is projected is adjusted by Sophia for each performance according to the space and location, both physically and in content. Originally, the work was to be showcased at Into The Great Wide Open 2020. The past two years have brought about a major shift in the world in various ways; with the characteristics of an essay – albeit in an unusual form – the words and sentences will reflect on the situation in her home country Ukraine in September.
The project has been developed as part of the Summer Sessions Network for Talent Development program in co-production with Metamedia Association and V2_ Lab for Unstable Media.
In addition to this work, Sophia Bulgakova can also be seen with the live performance ALL EYES ON, together with Mark IJzerman on Thursday evening, September 1st at the Nicolaaskerk.
