Allegra Krieger
Thoughtful singer from New York burns through your soul, just like Joni Mitchell and Elliott Smith did before you.
Allegra Krieger reads physics books to fall asleep and plays lyrical hide-and-seek with Brazilian-Ukrainian writer Clarice Lispector, but her musical awakening? That was really Shrek. 'Hallelujah' brought her to Jeff Buckley; Jeff Buckley brought her the bloodbeautiful, tempestuous sound with which she now publicly shares her profound philosophies. I Keep My Feet on the Fragile Plane and Art of the Unseen Infinity Machine are the names of her albums – filled with beautiful words and difficult – yet lifelike – matter. She sings of her aimless blue Mondays, her many side jobs and addictions; and the night her apartment burned down with the directness of Sun Kil Moon and – N.B. – the sensitivity of Elliott Smith. Touching to the very fourth dimension.
