Contemporary indie folk with the nostalgic glow of an old photo album
The sound of a Super 8 camera, the hazy tones of a pedal steel, a voice like a pink sheep cloud. Romy Liz Rose knows how to make it sound like eternal summer – an eternal sad girl summer, mind you. As a songwriter, the Rotterdam native looks to (modern) classical examples like Joni Mitchell and Adrianne Lenker, but suddenly, somewhere on the horizon, as if it were a mirage, a bit of country emerges in her music. And so you find yourself in a mahogany rocking chair while Romy Liz Rose gently rocks you back and forth – between euphoria and longing.
