LongStringInstallation_v2.1_53.2984720, 5.0841818

LongStringInstallation_v2.1_53.2984720, 5.0841818 was created after endless experimentation, in an ongoing study of the acoustic and dynamic quality of long strings. In this setup, the strings are set into vibration by electromagnets to create a fundamental tone. The movement of trees in the wind plays the strings, resulting in an ever-changing composition that you can experience on your own while lying in the forest.

Pelle Schilling is an artist, inventor of kinetic instruments, and composer of sound and movement. In 2018, Pelle graduated from HKU, and this summer he is completing his master's degree in ArtScience at KABK in The Hague. In his research, he explores physical analog phenomena and how they can be played. He creates dynamic works that stimulate the curiosity of the visitor and himself. By playing with dynamics, space, surprise, attention, and danger, he creates a raw sensory experience that brings us back to the 'now'. This encourages you to leave the rational behind and immerse yourself in your senses.
