Timid techno DJ and voice supreme navigating between the surf and the club
That DJ/producer Oceanic – once a regular guest at Trouw and De School – and avant-garde voice artist Greetje Bijma would ever form a duo was already unlikely. That the collaboration would last this long is even more surprising. Until you hear and see how the two complement each other. Take the latest project Sykheljende Lûden (Frisian for 'breath sounds'), on which the duo brings the Wadden Sea to life, each with their own instrument. Bijma sings the sea, the beach, the terns, and the waders. Oceanic brings the wind and the tide from his modular synths. Sometimes they become one, and sometimes it's a tug of war. Thoughtful vs. exuberant. The more turbulent the waves.
