Nagasaki Swim makes music to dreamily look out of the car – at the blossoms on the trees, a residential tower under construction, a surprisingly empty parking lot – only to remind you that you are the one driving the car. Steering, accelerating, and moving on. Nagasaki Swim is a rock band, without a doubt, but one that enjoys getting lost in thought. This makes the Rotterdam group all the more exciting, especially since frontman Jasper Boogaard constantly surrounds himself with different musicians. With a contact book full of saxophonists, violinists, and lap steel players, what is heartland rock today may be americana tomorrow. But regardless of the taken detour, the view is always worth it.
