Every day, our lives are influenced by countless invisible processes. Merlijn Toby draws inspiration from microbiological and technological systems – worlds where the invisible and the possible come together. His work originates from a fascination with systems that only truly reveal themselves when they fall out of balance.
Psychic Sediment presents itself as a 5G antenna that responds to the presence of the human body. It captures subtle electromagnetic differences between the viewer and the object. The work moves, vibrates, and seems to have a will of its own - thus forming a hybrid of the organic and the futuristic.
