Phyllotaxis

Phyllotaxis is a live AV performance and installation work by Joris Strijbos and Daan Johan (Macular). The impressive installation consists of two 'mills' upon which light paths are attached. When the blades start to spin at full speed, light patterns emerge that, together with penetrating soundscapes, create a hypnotizing effect. The title refers to the natural phenomenon where leaves and seeds are arranged in relation to each other according to a basic order. Technology and nature come together in this work.
