Luvcat
British gothic pop promise who almost called herself Eliza Day is in any case a wild rose
The undead, spider web-covered brass band from the music video of 'Lullaby' is something Luvcat has never forgotten. The Cure is her North Star, as well as Leonard Cohen and My Chemical Romance. Like them, the head-over-heels breakout singer from Liverpool is not averse to intricate theater. In a music landscape full of hyper-honest singer-songwriters, she performs the danse macabre. She describes her sound as "Tom Waits in a silk slip." She doesn’t growl at all. Instead, she flirts with mannequin dolls and toreadors, surrounds herself with candlesticks and dripping candle wax, and plays her burgundy, blood-romantic goth-pop as if she were in the Moulin fucking Rouge.
