MacroCosmos II
MacroCosmos II is a dynamic fusion of the physical and the digital, designed as a large, organic sculpture with steel ribs; an audiovisual experience in which the space is constantly in motion. The work starts from analog techniques and then zooms in further and further, as if it were an infinite galaxy.
MacroCosmos II invites the visitor to reflect on the interconnectedness between the micro and the macro, the visible and the invisible, the singular and the whole. But also on their own role - not just as a spectator, but as a participant in an interconnected cosmic journey.
MacroCosmos II has been created during several artistic residencies on Vlieland.
About the artists
MacroCosmos II is a collaboration between filmmaker Guillaume Versteeg, painter Laurie Drew, and composer Skander Jaïbi.
Guillaume Versteeg is a visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer. His work integrates intimate personal stories, bringing authenticity and a deep connection with the audience. He aims to create art that stimulates conversations and emotional engagement, inspired by his environment.
Laurie Drew reveals a world where chaos and harmony come together. His work includes time-based art, abstract painting, sculpture, landscape installations, and performance, challenging traditional categorizations. With abstract painting as a foundation, he moves between growth and decay, light and dark, and provokes questioning of the unknown.
Skander Jaïbi is a philosopher of science, audiovisual artist, and composer. As a sound designer, experimental musician, and audiovisual artist, he places a strong focus on the use of field recordings and archival material, creating compositions that integrate these recordings. His practice bridges genres and disciplines and expresses itself in various ways.
