Kay Churcher and Daan Boer

The Insubstantial City

In this video work, you find yourself in The Insubstantial City, an unreal city that moves without direction and transforms along with your perspective. It glides and curls around you, undulating over surfaces and melting into itself; continuously changing and endlessly reflecting.

Kay Churcher is a Scottish artist who lives and works in the Netherlands. She creates site-specific, immersive installations that explore the transient nature of experiences and the unique perspectives that each person has. Looking at the surreal potential of a space, she attempts to make the reality of it.

Daan Boer explores the overlooked, the in-between, and directs attention to unexplored emotions and motivations.

This is a graduation work from the ArtScience program at the Royal Academy of Art.
