Josephine Odhil
A melodramatic game of Cluedo on the dance floor – with an extra spicy bloody mary in hand.
Did you know that Charles Manson recorded multiple tracks in the home studio of Beach Boy Brian Wilson? Josephine Odhil does. The Amsterdam singer (formerly of The Mysterons) collects 'murderabilia' and turns it into spotless pop songs. Titles like 'The Lift', 'Joker', and 'Folie à Deux' provide a glimpse into Odhil's viewing habits. And what about listening habits? Synth-rich art pop is prominent - a bit of New Order, some Soft Cell with a hint of Laurie Anderson - where all the morbid themes secretly come across quite cheerfully. Just listen to that incredibly funky floor-filler, 'Bloody Mary'. The ingredients are there - tabasco, cilantro, a huge bass line - for a "dark and stormy night."
