Hiqpy
Stoic pyromaniacs work skillfully towards a grunge explosion
Present everywhere from nothing, even before there is an album. Tramhaus succeeded with a handful of singles. Hiqpy did it purely on live reputation. The flames of the Amsterdam quartet reach further and further, having already burned Into The Great Wide Open to ashes last year and have only become hotter since. We could call them a grunge band, but Abir Hamam and co have far too much discipline for that. Everything happens in service of the song - a pop song, usually, that becomes more intense with every new layer. But even when the fuzz of the guitars seems to be going out of control, they remain in command of the fire.
