Resolving - day & night

Resolving makes palpable how we, just like the moon and the water, are inextricably connected to rhythmic systems, visible and invisible. In a world that wants to move forward — linear, goal-oriented, accelerating — this new work by Elsemarijn Bruys proposes another movement: that of repetition, of returning, of the cyclical as a source of insight. The rotating movement serves as a metaphor for repetition and transformation.

As your body is taken along in the rotating movement, your mind is challenged by the accompanying audio to reflect on the cycles of nature and society; repetition and stagnation; the power of reciprocity and the potential for transformation.

Taken in a time without beginning or end, in Resolving you enter a space where going back is not regression, but a form.

About Elsemarijn Bruys
Elsemarijn Bruys (1989, NL) is a visual artist with a fascination for sensory perception and spatial experience. Her work moves between sculpture and architectural intervention and often seeks tension between dualities: light-hearted and uncomfortable, attractive and repulsive. Air is her primary medium and collaborative partner: it transforms her objects, distorts perspectives, and makes her work performative and changeable.

The art program is made possible with support from Mondriaan Fonds and De Versterking.
