Dune Sessions

Jazz collective thriving on lightly controlled chaos, originated in the dune sand

Chaos is fair, and sometimes it is just too quiet on Vlieland. That is why twelve talented jazz musicians made the crossing last June for a five-day writers' camp. Five days of free improvisation in the marram grass, collaborating or working against each other until something entirely new emerges. Such a wealth of styles (hip-hop, Hendrix, neo-soul, spoken word, Sudanese folk) and working methods (impulsiveness, thoughtfulness, heaven-storming, hit-sensitive) can only explode. The (temporary) result of the Dune Sessions will be performed this weekend. The presentation of the recorded album is planned for this autumn – at the Super-Sonic Jazz Festival.
