In the ongoing project Foundscape Daniel Maalman researches the sound properties of different materials and incorporates the results into unique automated and spatial musical instruments. In doing so, he transforms objects and locations into temporary sound experiences. During this ‘edition’ of his research, you will experience the Lighthouse like never before.
About Daniel Maalman
Artist Daniel Maalman works with sound in as broad a spectrum as possible. He started at a young age making electronic music and gradually developed a passion for experimenting with sound in an unconventional manner. For his installations, Maalman designs systems and tools that allow him to play with sound on location and compose with what is available. Objects, materials, buildings, and spaces can be used to write compositions. Maalman seeks the potential sounds that lie hidden beneath the surface of various materials.
