Brackish Collective
Sipping Dunes
Sipping Dunes is an immersive hybrid of performance and installation, and an invitation to the audience to taste the landscape of Vlieland. The salty plant life nestled between the coast and the forest gets its flavor from the brackish water that nourishes it, and thus acquires the scent of the island itself. You are invited to participate in a tasting with these plants, and with your sense of taste as a starting point, to explore the history of the island's ecology.

Brackish Collective is an interdisciplinary collaboration project of artists and writers Lila Bullen-Smith (ZA), Megan Hadfield (UK), and Toni Brell (DE). They explore the history and present of the Dutch land reclamation project through dinners, tastings, and stories. Brackish is the English word for brackish water, and here water is a starting point for both artistic research and a multisensory framework that brings this research to life.
