Bassolino
An imaginary soundtrack for the most messed up Italo-crime that you will never see
The città futura seems like such a utopia. Dario Bassolino colors his imaginary little town on the Amalfi Coast with congas, mandolins, saxophones, fretless bass, screaming synths, and shouting crowds. We hear Brazilian and Arabic funk influences. We hear so much that we can hardly keep up with everything that is happening. More is more seems to be the motto of the Neapolitan producer, who draws from the soundtracks of poliziotteschi, an Italian film genre from the seventies filled with gangsters and vigilanti. Anyone stepping into Bassolino's Fiat X1/9 can expect a chase on winding roads and through narrow streets. Hold on tight. The grooves are so infectious that the plot is almost impossible to follow.
