On behalf of Noorderlicht, Arcadia and Into The Great Wide Open, we warmly invite you to the opening of the Vlieland part of the Noorderlicht Biennale 2025: Machine Entanglements.

On Sunday, July 6 at 14:00, a special exhibition will open at Brouwerij Fortuna at Fortweg 10 in Vlieland, where technology and landscape are closely intertwined. Three artists will take you on a journey with installations that make the underground tensions of the island visible and tangible.

Michael Najjar investigates the sulfur cycle as planetary matter. Louis Braddock Clarke lets the earth speak through a network that extends far out, to the South Pacific. Hedwich Rooks makes the dormant South Walvulcaan under the island tangible in her work Ynfra – developed in co-production with Arcadia – through heat, rock, and sound.

The presentation on Vlieland forms the soft kick-off of the thirtieth edition of the Noorderlicht Biennial, which takes place this summer at six locations in Northern Netherlands from July 11 to September 7. Entrance is free and the opening is accompanied by music from Cashmyra. We hope to welcome you to this opening afternoon for a meeting with the island and the artists.

If you are unable to attend the opening, the exhibition can be visited from July 7 to September 7, between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and during Into The Great Wide Open on Thu 28/8 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM and Fri 29 – Sun 31 Aug: 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM.
