Every house begins with a solid cornerstone. Just like Into The Great Wide Open needs those building blocks to bring the festival to life. In The Cornerstones, we follow the people whose work is indispensable for the festival. We kick off among the trees.

One of those cornerstones is Bertwin, a forest ranger on Vlieland. He knows the island like the back of his hand and watches over nature, so that everything still shines just as beautifully after four days of fun as it did before. Together with Iemke, he forms a golden duo: Iemke translates the plans of the festival to Staatsbosbeheer, and vice versa. This way, they ensure that nature and the festive atmosphere go hand in hand effortlessly.
