Radio Free Alice

Australia's most English band has no shortage of hit songs

Have you discovered a new, extremely catchy rock band, with hooks that seem no-nonsense, but nevertheless knock you off your feet? Good chance that, in the year 2026, it is an Australian band. Radio Free Alice is one of those bands, presumably once dipped in a magical substance that Sydney's underground keeps secret at all costs. Strikingly, however, the taste of this four-piece is incredibly British. With the propelling melodies of an early New Order and the lament of a post-punk-ready Morrissey, they sound rather nostalgic. But if you can pass believably enough for a band from Manchester circa 1982, and when you were born The Factory had already been closed for decades, is that still nostalgia?
