Noise rockers from a beleaguered community invoke the right to self-defense

The Wall Street Journal recently called Dearborn, Michigan 'America's Jihad Capital' – a prime example of the Islamophobia that has been so deeply ingrained in the US since 'September 11', as the Dearborn-born members of Prostitute well know. The noise rock band debuted in 2024 with Attempted Martyr, an album that was already virtually finished before 'October 7', but perfectly embodies the rage against all the evil that is tolerated under the banner of 'anti-terrorism'. Prostitute shares its deafening cynicism with another Michigan band – Protomartyr, which once made the sun on Vlieland disappear – but adds a heavy dose of metal to that post-punk sound. To make it sound exactly angry enough: “dedicated to Lebanon, from Dearborn with love.”
