Patience is a virtue. After many years as a sideman (in bands like Tape Toy and FUZZY TEETH), Pleun Stork was ready for her own project. All that playing in all those different styles pays off in an elusive cocktail. The most obvious comparisons are with the early years of Big Thief and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but plonki possesses the ability to come across alternately softer and much harder than those two. The strength of the sidemen that Stork has now gathered around her is an flawless sense of dynamics. Folk rock, you think, and then suddenly you get an all-consuming guitar solo in your face.
