Kruidkoek & Joost Oomen
The house poet has energy for five – so there’s definitely still room for a wildly zany jazz band too
Anyone who hears a cheeky "HELLLOOOOO EVERYONE" echoing across the sports field knows who is on the way. Listening to the boundless cheerfulness of Joost Oomen is becoming just as much of a Vlieland staple as waiting in front of de Bolder and laughing at the Kolderkrant. But anyone who had bet money that the poet would appear on stage this year with a free jazz band can treat everyone to apple juice. The Frisian Kruidkoek (not to be confused with the snack) plays its 'garage jazz' with tasteful Latin influences and, above all, keeps playing faaaaster. As the sax sounds increasingly overdriven, Oomen seems to slowly lose his cool – until his recitation about little fruits turns into a joyful tirade that not only makes you smile, but also makes you want to mosh very sweetly.
Kruidkoek & Joost Oomen is a production of Explore The North.
