Although it all began with reenacting Nick Drake songs in their bedroom, Jacob Alon’s story has not unfolded like Drake’s. The talent is there, the deep feeling and, thank goodness, now the success too, after years of refining. Reportedly, a still-unknown Alon managed to bring a Scottish pub to complete silence with their first original song. Such is the power of the singer-songwriter, whose debut album In Limerence teems with sonorous diary-like lyrics and fabulous, Lenkeresque fingerpicking. The kind of work that truly leaves you listening breathlessly, while the pint in your hand slowly goes lukewarm.
