Lias Saoudi likes to whip himself. Everything he makes, whether with Fat White Family or The Moonlandingz, is always a bit painful, dirty, panting, indecent; soaked in sweat and other, unnamed bodily fluids. This is equally true for Decius u2013 his project with Liam and Luke May (Trashmouth Records) and Quinn Whalley (Warmduscher). But Decius is also thrilling because it is simply terribly danceable. Detroit, Berghain, and the Balearics echo in a haze of acid house and sadomasochistic disco-sleaze. Sometimes Saoudi disappears for a moment u2013 we dare not ask why and where to u2013 but the pace does not slow down for a single second.
