Gripping avant-garde folk for the labor movement
If Cleo Reed had played the music from their album CUNTRY à la Dylan to a bedridden Woody Guthrie, he probably would have spontaneously kicked the bucket. But this highly experimental music does indeed have a lot in common with the primal folk of Guthrie and the Almanac Singers. Reed sketches the existence of the proletariat in an America held together by duct tape. The accompanying sound is as chaotic and fragmented as the country itself: from abstract hip-hop and alternative R&B to midwest emo and, indeed, 'cuntry music'.
