Baxter Dury

Lome talk singer transforms live into a shaman of the dancefloor

In a half-empty cocktail bar - sticky floor, dusty disco ball - Baxter Dury has waited for years for his moment of glory. Now there are lines around the corner and the 54-year-old dandy is letting loose. Lyrics that he half-whispers on record, he now throws into the room with fervor: "I'M THE SAUSAGE MAN! THE SHADOW LICKERRR!" Even those who jumped in with Dury's Charli XCX-inspired ninth album Allbarone will be taken aback by the pandemonium that arises live. Yes, he has a famous father, but Dury Jr. primarily evokes memories of Gainsbourg Sr. as if he had ever had a now-disco phase – such a perverse effect is had just by his presence. What on earth is in those gin & tonics?

Baxter Dury will close the main stage on Thursday, August 27.
