Baxter Dury

Lome talk singer transforms live into a shaman of the dancefloor

In a half-empty cocktail bar - sticky floor, dusty disco ball – Baxter Dury spent years waiting for his crowning moment. Now, the queues stretch around the corner and the 54-year-old dandy is letting loose. Lyrics that he half-whispers on record, he now flings into the crowd with spit and passion: "I'M THE SAUSAGE MAN! THE SHADOW LICKERRR!" Even those who jumped on board with Dury's Charli xcx-inspired ninth album Allbarone will be taken aback by the live pandemonium that ensues. Yes, he has a famous father, but Dury Jr. mostly brings to mind Gainsbourg Sr. if he had ever gone through a nu-disco phase – his presence alone has that kind of perverse effect. What on earth is in those gin & tonics?

Baxter Dury closes the main stage on Thursday, August 27th.
