What Syria and Siberia have in common, besides the umlaut? The ÁMÀL Ensemble gives you some indication. The members of the Amsterdam collective also come from Mexico and France and have set as their main goal to live up to their name: amal is Arabic for hope. It makes the distance between the different countries blur, in fact, blurred all boundaries. That the East Mediterranean buzuk is played on a Latin American rhythm does not feel unusual for a moment. In this compelling dream world, a connected, uncomplicatedly diverse world is momentarily not wishful thinking.
