Please find below which volunteer functions are available at Into The Great Wide Open, and what they entail:

Art Route

As a volunteer at the art route you help provide information to people who walk the art route and you support the team at the artworks.

Accreditation desk

All the crew gets their wristband, t-shirt and catering card at the accreditation desk. The desk is located at the crewcatering, the central spot of the backstage area! As a volunteer behind the desk, you will help checking in the crew, give them the things they need and help them with their camping spot. During the festival weekend your function will change into an information point. When a crew member has a question, they will aks you for help.

Bar employee

What's a festival without beer? Exactly, nothing. During the festival you and your team will work behind the bar to take care of the drinks. You experience a lot of the festival because you are right in the middle of it.

Bicycle parking control

During the festival on Vlieland, besides a lot of people, there are also a lot of bikes. To keep all the roads bicycle-free, you help visitors find a place for their bicycles.

Cashflow

In this team you will help the team that manages all the money related stuff. You will mostly help with the pin machines, as we are a cashless festival.

Construction work before the festival

Over a week before the start of the festival, you and your team start building the festival over the entire island.

Construction work after the festival

After the festival, you and your team ensure that everything looks like nothing happened on the island. During the festival you are free to do what you want, and after the construction period you will enjoy a nice party to celebrate the hard work you and your fellow volunteers delivered.

Construction work before and after the festival

Do you want to know how the festival is set up? With this position you will help with construction just before the festival, after which you have free time to enjoy the festival and start fresh on Monday with the deconstruction of the festival.

Crew catering

Do you like cooking? For this function you’ll help the cook prepare dishes for the crew and artists.

Cup return team

Without cups there is no beer, and that's not an option. With this task you ensure that all bars at the festival have enough clean cups.

Driver

As a driver you bring artists and objects to different places on the island. We also need drivers during construction before and after the festival!

Flex

Can't decide which job you like best? As a flexer you are multi-deployable wherever is necessary. This job is never boring, you will be put to work anywhere!

Information desk and ticketing

When the guests arrive at the festival, you are the first they see. You welcome them, scan their tickets and put a band on their wrists. At the information desk you give guidance to visitors about all kinds of things. This function is fun and educational, because you know everything about the festival!

Lab Vlieland

At Into The Great Wide Open we try to do everything as sustainable as possible. Lab Vlieland guides all the different projects we do during the festival. In this team, you will help at every location with all these different projects.

Merchandise

Do you have your sales pitch ready? At this position you sell all the nice Into The Great Wide Open merchandise to the visitors of the festival.

Production Office

For this function we’re looking for quick, precise people that like to work together with the crew at the office. Working on tasks such as arranging bikes for your colleagues, and other tasks supporting our production.

Resources team

Do you think sustainability is important? At Into The Great Wide Open we see waste as new raw material. That's why we need a strong team that enjoys making sure everything runs smoothly throughout the festival. You like to work hard and you do not mind a bit of waste.

Runner

As a runner you will bring stuff from A to B in a gator during the construction and deconstruction. Together with the construction teams you will make sure that there is a beautiful festival and everything is cleaned up afterwards.

Service team

During Into The Great Wide Open you are part of our Service Team. This means that with a friendly smile and loads of enthusiasm you help with checking wristbands and maintaining our festival site.

Waste Team
