Whippersnapper
a new collaboration from ITGWO, Brand, and Fortuna. New England India Pale Ale flows from the tap at every bar at the festival.
Beer
For the festival-goer, flierfluiter is an honorary title. And for Into The Great Wide Open, Vlierefluiter is the honorary beer! Bojan Bajic from brewery Fortuna Vlieland and Brand's brewmaster Rob Habets wandered aimlessly and playfully across the island and stumbled upon the tastiest elderflower. Off to the brewing kettles higher up in the dunes. Weeks later, a beautifully cloudy New England India Pale Ale saw the light of day.
The brewers from both breweries are also excited. Rob Habets - master brewer of Brand - indicates that this collaboration (referred to as a 'collab' in the beer world) has inspired both brewers to apply local ingredients, use different brewing techniques, and also focus on sustainable brewing; where both Brand and Fortuna Vlieland are fully committed.
Wanda Weizen will be presented this coming Friday at Fortuna Vlieland. This sustainable brewery was opened in 2019 by Bojan Bajic and Gosse Beerda, right in the dunes of the island. All the beer is brewed with clear water that is sourced directly from the Vlieland dunes.
Wanda Weizen owes its name to the Wanda legend, a medieval story about the Queen of Vlieland, who, during a fierce storm, is still said to be visible on the island's dunes. Listen to this thrilling story - preferably with a beer in hand - now via this link.
Wanda Weizen will be exclusively available from Friday, September 3rd, on Vlieland, available at Fortuna and various shops, supermarkets, and almost all hospitality venues on the island.
