Circular purchasing

How do you do that?

To become a fully circular festival, it is necessary to work towards 0 residual waste. By separating and delivering all materials and products used at the festival - and discarded / end-of-life - into well-recyclable streams to the raw material processor - the former waste processors. But to make this possible, it is essential to properly organize things on the procurement side. Only by making the right choices for the purchasing of products and materials can 0 residual waste be achieved.

Therefore, last year at ITGWO we developed the circular procurement decision tree. This helps people within the organization - who are responsible for hiring, borrowing, buying materials and products - with these complicated considerations.

Additionally, this year specific decision trees have been developed for the procurement of merchandise and site textiles. The merchandise decision tree has been developed based on extensive knowledge of sustainable purchasing of merchandise and the wishes and choices surrounding ITGWO. This is now also being applied within the Green Deal Circular Festivals (GDCF).

For site textiles, a decision tree has been developed in a similar way, in collaboration with various textile parties, ITGWO, and other expert parties, also with broader application within the GDCF.
