Brìghde Chaimbeul

With dive flights and roaming trips, Chaimbeul knows how to get more from a bagpipe than you thought possible.

Brìghde Chaimbeul's nest overlooks the rugged mountain landscapes of Rùm and Skye and the turbulent water in between. Her older sisters are harpists; her mother a sculptor; and her father an author of Scottish Gaelic magical realism. That gives you an idea of what the bagpiper is competing with – and equally drawing her inspiration from. Her music is indisputably Scottish, but Chaimbeul also likes to fly further from home. Gaelic folklore proves to pair excellently with the blowing techniques of Cape Breton Island, Kabardino-Balkaria and Bulgaria. She takes in all of the above (and more) in an eagle's flight – what she interprets is a highly unique amalgam.
