ABOUT US
Into The Great Wide Open has existed since 2009 and offers a diverse program annually at the end of summer on Vlieland, where the island consistently provides a varied stage. The sharp musical programming sets the tone; Art, Film, Absurdity, The Youth, and Spoken Word create a complete program. Into The Great Wide Open wants to do good wherever possible.
Into The Great Wide Open has been a festival since its first edition in 2009 where things are done a little differently and experimentation is given space. Because the island and what happens on stage inspire both the audience, the artists, and the organization. This leads to innovation in many areas: on stage, in the work of artists, in social and technological aspects, and in the way the festival is organized: a large team sees the festival as a playground and laboratory, a place where they can express something that may not yet be possible in everyday practice: a temporary world, a performance of how things could also be.
OUR MISSION
The Great Wide Open Foundation aims to organize activities that offer a combination of disciplines, such as music, visual arts, and film. Into The Great Wide Open provides artists and creators with the space and facilities to develop and connects new artists and genres with a wide audience.
Into The Great Wide Open sees that music is a wonderful prism to reflect on the state of the world and wants to use the arts as an organization to bring attention to, address, and stimulate societal issues. The festival is progressive, both artistically, technologically, and socially/community-wise, and serves as inspiration for visitors, artists, volunteers, employees, and cultural entrepreneurs alike. Into The Great Wide Open is a cultural ANBI.
Into The Great Wide Open believes that the festival is more than music, art, and nature. It is also a temporary society - a place where people meet, create together, and live together. Therefore, we have made agreements on how we treat each other and our environment. This code of conduct applies to everyone involved in the festival: artists, staff, volunteers, suppliers, partners, and visitors. By acting respectfully, sustainably, and inclusively, we ensure that Into The Great Wide Open remains a pleasant place for everyone.
