Monster Florence
Rap collective and rock band, timeless and super hip
Monster Florence has racked up millions of streams in recent years without much notable media attention. Maybe it has something to do with how hard they are to describe, with their blend of styles being perfectly suited to an online world where genre hardly means anything anymore anyway. The six-piece from Essex raps, makes sharp guitar songs, and has a few choruses that are really something. At times it brings to mind the hyper-diverse ‘boy band’ Brockhampton, if Brockhampton had listened to a bit more Fontaines D.C. and had dared to ask legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke for a feature. In any case, Monster Florence certainly doesn’t lack courage, as the live show will also prove.
