Accreditation desk
At the accreditation desk, you are the first point of contact for all volunteers on the island. From your place behind the desk, you welcome everyone and provide them with wristbands, lanyards and other essentials, or just a chat. You're comfortable with a bit of Excel and keep working calmly and methodically, even when a full boat has just arrived and a long queue forms.
Friday 21 August to Tuesday 1 September
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
Construction after the festival
After the festival, you help together with a team to restore everything to its original state. During the festival, you are free and you start on Sunday evening with the first tasks. The highlight? That’s the tear-down party! If you indicate in your registration that you want to help with dismantling, you will receive more information by email at the beginning of the summer about the work and working hours.
Sunday 30 August through Thursday 3 September
Artist Driver
As an artist driver, you drive the artists from A to B in a van. For example, from the stage to their hotel once their show is over. It is therefore important that you can keep a cool head, and are comfortable behind the wheel. Reverse parking a van full of people will probably happen more than once ;)
Wednesday 26 August through Monday 31 August
BAR
What is a festival without drinks? Exactly, nothing! As a bar staff member, you are close to the stages and experience the festival from the best side. Together with your team, you make sure everyone is supplied with a cold beer, a refreshing glass of wine or a tasty lemonade. Pouring beer, serving drinks and going all out behind the bar, you don't shy away from it and like to get stuck in. Your shift may last into the late evening hours.
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
Crew catering
Do you love cooking? Then this is the place for you! In this role, you support the chefs in preparing and serving meals for our volunteers. What could be better than providing all those hard-working people with a delicious meal? Our crew catering is like a real restaurant: everyone works hard, but the atmosphere is great.
Friday 21 August through Wednesday 26 August
Wednesday 26 August through Monday 31 August
Sunday 30 August through Wednesday 2 September
CROSSLOAD
As a member of the Crossload Team, during the festival you will go to Harlingen for one day and one night. There you help carry the artists' gear and assist with logistics. It is a long and intensive day, but after that you are free for the rest of the festival to enjoy yourself. Of course, we arrange the crossing and a place to sleep in Harlingen.
Wednesday 26 August through Monday 31 August
FLEX
Can't decide which role is the most fun? No problem, being a flex worker is really for you! You are versatile and step in wherever needed. One time you'll spend an hour behind a busy bar, another time you'll help check wristbands at one of the venues. No day is the same, so it stays nicely varied and exciting! Your shift may run into the late evening hours.
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
Bicycles parking control
During the festival, Vlieland is bursting with bicycles. As a member of the Wrong Bike Team, you make sure the roads remain bicycle-free. You help visitors find a good parking spot and move wrongly parked bikes to the Wrong Bike Parking Area. Your presence is the most important thing here, even if it doesn't always feel that way. Luckily, with a book and a game, you'll always have something to do, and you'll remain a visible and friendly point of contact for passersby. Your shift may run into the late evening.
Wednesday 26 August through Monday 31 August
Resource team
ITGWO wants to become a circular festival. There is no residual waste; everything is reusable or is collected separately as resources. In the Resources Team, you roll up your sleeves to ensure this is processed as well as possible. With an enthusiastic team, you staff the drop-off points in the public area half the time, where reusable tableware and resources are collected. For the rest of the time, you help backstage in the materials street by checking the various streams or drive around in a box truck to collect bins. You are a real doer and not afraid to get dirty. Your shift may run until the late evening hours.
Wednesday 26 August through Monday 31 August
REUSABLE DISHES TEAM
In this team, you help with one of the festival’s most sustainable systems: processing reusable tableware. Most of the time, you are in the washing area of the cup bar, right next to the main stage on the sports field. There, some of the cups and plates are washed clean again so they can be used again. Your shift may continue into the late evening.
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
Information desk and ticketing
You are the first face visitors see as soon as they arrive. You welcome them with a smile, scan their tickets, and give them their festival wristband. At the information desk, you help visitors on their way with all their questions, from the schedule to the best places to relax. A fun and educational role, because you become the walking festival guide!
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
ART ROUTE
Are you an art lover who enjoys peace and nature? As a volunteer on the art route, you provide visitors with information about the artworks they encounter. The works are spread across the island, often in beautiful, quiet spots in the forest or the dunes. While you sit there, you keep an eye on things and have a friendly chat with passers-by to tell them more about the artwork. A relaxed, but important role in the middle of nature!
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
Merchandise
Are you a born salesperson? In this role, you work in The Shop and sell the coolest Into The Great Wide Open merchandise. From cool souvenirs to must-have festival items, you know how to excite visitors and send them off with a smile.
Wednesday 26 August to Monday 31 August
BUILD UP
Can’t you wait for the festival to begin? More than a week in advance, you already set foot on the island to build the festival together with a team. You hammer, do odd jobs and haul until the grounds are completely festival-ready. When you sign up, indicate that you want to help with the build-up, and at the beginning of summer you will receive more information about the schedule and your tasks.
Wednesday 19 August to Friday 28 August
Construction work before and after the festival
Curious how a festival comes to life and is taken down again? In this role, you help with the build-up just before the festival, until Friday morning. After that, you are free to enjoy the festival all weekend long. On Monday, you start fresh with the breakdown. When you sign up, indicate that you want to help with construction before and after the festival, and at the beginning of summer you will receive more info about the tasks and working hours.
Monday 24 August to Tuesday 1 September
Production Office
Are you quick, accurate, and do you like working behind the scenes? Then this role is for you! You work with the crew from the heart of the festival, in the office. For example, you arrange bicycles for staff, hand out radios, and take on all kinds of other production tasks. In short: you keep the organization running!
Sunday 23 August through Thursday 27 August
Friday 28 August through Tuesday 1 September
RUNNER during construction
As a runner, you transport building materials from A to B, so that everyone can build the festival grounds and later clear them away again. When you sign up, indicate that you want to be a runner, and at the beginning of summer you will receive more information about the schedule and your tasks.
Wednesday 19 August to Friday 28 August
Sunday 30 August to Thursday 3 September
Service team
You help make sure the festival runs smoothly, with a smile of course. You check wristbands, pour drinks, and help keep the grounds tidy. Your presence is super important, even if it doesn’t always feel that way. Luckily, you always have a book or game on hand to keep yourself entertained in between, while remaining a friendly point of contact for passersby. Your shift may continue until late in the evening.
