Despite the pandemic, Into The Great Wide Open continued in 2020. Not as a gathering in Vlieland, but in other forms.
Everything that normally comes to expression on the island was reflected between August 27 and September 2, 2020, in a Broadcast, a Magazine, and a Box. In addition, there was a film program in collaboration with IFFR, rapper S10 traveled to Vlieland to work on her album, and DJ St. Paul and artist Rob Sweere streamed special projects.
Was it as beautiful as a long weekend on the island? No, but The Broadcast came to an end. In collaboration with NTR, all the disciplines that Into The Great Wide Open engages with came together, from music to film and from art to children's art. The speakers from Op de Schans made an impression with their manifesto for the new world, and ranger Anke charmed with her stories about sand lizards and birds of prey. S10 talked about the album they were working on at the island, and Spinvis formed the red thread with the music film De Overkant, with 'Come Back' as the anticipated finale.
