Essential for the festival

During Into The Great Wide Open 2024, the festival, with the help of Lab Vlieland and Emission-0, made the switch to electric machines for the setup and takedown. From cargo carts and trucks to gators and forklifts: emission-free alternatives provided a quieter and cleaner construction site.

The urgency of climate change calls for swift, concrete actions across all sectors, including the events and construction sectors. Festivals can play a pioneering role in this by testing new technologies and sustainable solutions, stimulating the market by making the switch, and demonstrating that it is already possible. Emission-free construction, as seen during the festival, is a good example of this.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

As a volunteer, you work in exchange for access to the festival. And because you are working hard for us, we want to take good care of you. As a volunteer, you will therefore receive three meals on the days you work, we will ensure a nice spot at the always joyful volunteer campsite, and - we can't say it often enough - a wristband for the always sold-out festival weekend.

Whether you are coming for the first time or have been volunteering for years doesn't matter. The only thing we ask from you is a minimum availability from August 27 to September 1, 2025.

Into The Great Wide Open has been a festival since its first edition in 2009 where things are done a little differently and experimentation is given space. Because the island and what happens on stage inspire both the audience, the artists, and the organization. This leads to innovation in many areas: on stage, in the work of artists, in social and technological aspects, and in the way the festival is organized: a large team sees the festival as a playground and laboratory, a place where they can express something that may not yet be possible in everyday practice: a temporary world, a performance of how things could also be.

Into The Great Wide Open works with volunteers. In fact, without volunteers, there would be no festival at all. Volunteers are therefore essential for a festival like Into The Great Wide Open.
